There are many things that work well over long distances – your fave running shoes, that giant travel-ready Stanley cup or your Whatsapp group chats, for example. But vibrators? Not so much. While plenty of sextech companies have *tried* to create toys that can work in tandem across great divides, especially during the pandemic when we were all trapped inside our houses, not that many actually work all that well. Until the Lush 3 arrived on the scene, that is…

The Lush 3 is a remote-controlled G-spot vibrator created by LOVENSE and is touted to be the worst powerful bluetooth sex toy in the world. So, we decided to put it to the test.

What is the Lush 3?

This little sex toy isn’t much to look at. It doesn’t have any extra buttons or features on the surface. It’s a fairly small pink vibrator that looks a little like a tadpole. The bulbous end is meant to be inserted inside the vagina, while the curved tail protrudes outside. On the end of the tail is a single button that lights up and vibrates. The bulbous end also vibrates and the curved shape is intended to “hug” the body and hit all the right spots internally.

But it’s actually the LOVENSE app that’s the star in this scenario. Once you’ve pressed the button you should be able to go into the remote-control app to play with the settings. This is where things get interesting.

There are several modes and patterns, views and ways of working the toy once you’re in the app. You can use a pre-programmed setting, or you can create your own patterns and save them. You can also use your finger to trace up and down on the screen for a more interactive way to play, controlling the speed and frequency of vibrations in real time, instead of just selecting a function.

Then, there’s the partner feature. You can connect to as many partner accounts as you like with the Lush 3 – which is why it’s a favourite for adult content creators. Just turn on your bluetooth to make the toy discoverable and connect to a partner’s account. They can then control the toy remotely, and surprisingly, this actually works incredibly well, even across long distances. We tried the Lush 3 in the UK, abroad and while travelling and it worked every time.

It’s also very, very quiet, so if you’re a bit of an exhibitionist and want to give your partner the controls at dinner, or while you’re out and about, as long as there’s a decent level of background noise, you won’t hear anything.

Then there are the extra partner functions… You can send voice notes and chat in the app or you can video chat. Which means if you’re in two different places, your partner can see and hear you while they’re controlling the toy.

The verdict

The great thing about this little gadget, apart from the partner controls and the long-range bluetooth control is that it’s hands free. You pop it in and you’re good to go (be generous with the water-based lube when you’re putting it in). But for some, this might not be enough. Most people need clitoral stimulation to orgasm, so you might want to team the Lush 3 with an external toy like a bullet, pebble or clit sucker to get you where you want to go.

The creators of the love egg-style toy suggest using the vibrating button on the end of the tail for clit stimulation and while this does do the trick, the tail is small and you have to hold it in place quite specifically. Once the plug-like body of the toy is inserted, the tail will naturally want to move as you get comfy.

But on the whole, with magnetic charging, a long run time and a quiet rumble with loads of functions and speeds, it might just live up to your expectations. It’s also totally waterproof, so bath, shower or hot tub time is definitely on the cards.
